FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: data packet is sent in a data stream from an application function of user equipment (UE1), a packet bearer (PB) is established through UE1 to transmit the data packet over the communication network to an additional object, and UE1 is adapted to establish various packet bearers. The method comprises the steps of identifying the stream with the data packet in a control object of the communication network, determining PB for association with said stream from the different PB in a policy function of the control object, determining a routing level identification of the additional object, instructing UE1 to install a packet filter based on the routing level identification, wherein the packet filter associates data packets containing the routing level identification of the additional object with the determined PB, providing the routing level identification to the application function, including the routing level identification into the DP, and forwarding the DP to the determined PB.

EFFECT: simple and flexible method of associating data packets with bearers in user equipment in a communication network.
