DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUE FOR HEMODYNAMICALLY SIGNIFICANT CORONARY ARTERY ATHEROSCLEROSIS Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC A61B6/03 A61B5/02

Abstract RU 2406443 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: diagnostic technique for hemodinamically significant coronary artery atherosclerosis refers to medicine, cardiology, and can find application in diagnostics and therapeutic decision for coronary heart disease (CHD). The technique consists in the rest and stress test positron emission imaging examination of 13N-ammonium myocardial perfusion. If observing stress-induced myocardial perfusion defects, 0.5 mg of nitroglycerine is administered sublingually to the patient. 5-7 minutes later, stress test is performed once again. It is followed with another injection of 13N-ammonium and positron emmission scanning. The persistent perfusion defect observed with underlying nitroglycerine premedication enables to diagnose hemodinamically significant atherosclerosis of coronary artery supplying a defect area. The absence of said perfusion defect shows coronary artery vasospasm, including combined with hemodinamically insignificant atherosclerosis.

EFFECT: technique provides high-accuracy diagnosis of hemodinamically significant coronary artery stenoses making over 70 % of the lumen diametre to be surgically managed.
