FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: device has a generator of ultrasound pulses connected to an emitter and series-connected receiver, amplifier, threshold device, time interval generation unit, control and display unit, whose output is connected to the generator and the input of the time interval generation unit. The reference voltage source is connected to the threshold device. The device also has series-connected analogue-to-digital converter, address generation unit, random access memory, delay unit and flip flop. The output of the flip flop is connected to the analogue-to-digital converter and the address generation unit. The delay unit is connected to the output of the time interval generation unit and inputs of the flip flop and the control and display unit. The second input of the flip flop is connected to the time interval generation unit. The analogue-to-digital converter is connected to the output of the amplifier and to the data input of the random access memory. The control and display unit is connected to the address generation unit with possibility of allowing or preventing automatic operation of the address generation unit, and to the output of the random access memory.

EFFECT: compensation for ultrasonic level gauge measurements caused by uncontrolled time interval between the onset of the echo pulse and operation of the threshold device.
