SUBSTANCE: method of using SOFC installation involves a step for feeding a methane-containing stream to anode(s) of a solid oxide-based fuel cell(s), feeding oxygen-containing gas to the cathode(s) of the said fuel cell(s) and conversion of the said methane-containing stream into electricity, where the said methane-containing stream is obtained through preliminary catalytic conversion of an ethanol-containing stream, fed under adiabatic conditions, to methane.
