FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a solid oxide fuel cell system, as well as to a method of operating such a system and can be used in power engineering. Solid oxide fuel cell system comprises a reforming unit, a solid oxide fuel cell stack and a furnace to produce heat for the reforming unit. Gaseous hydrocarbon stream and steam are fed into the reforming unit. Reformer and furnace are built into one unit for compactness and reduction of heat losses. In system there is a unit for control of fresh air consumption by means of supercharger. One or several evaporators are located behind the furnace for cooling of exhaust flow of the furnace and steam generation, which is then supplied to the reformer. In system there is sensor of temperature of gas enriched with hydrogen, on base of which control unit regulates operation of supercharger to maintain content of oxygen in exhaust flow of furnace within specified range.

EFFECT: higher reliability of system, simplified control and eliminated need of system in external water source.
