FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: extent of atherogenesis stimulation of monocyte-derived macrophages from the CHD patient's blood is measured by the ability of macrophages a) to produce active oxygen forms evaluated by luminol-dependent chemoluminescence, b) to oxidise low-density lipoproteins evaluated by uptake of the thiobarbiturate acid reacting products, c) to absorb low-density lipoproteins evaluated by total cholesterol uptake in macrophages and d) to preserve 50-70% of viable macrophages for 1 hour of incubation in a protein-free substratum-deficient medium.

EFFECT: use of the technique allows measuring the severity of ischemic heart damage and propensity of a CHD patient for progressing atherosclerosis.
