THERMAL CHEMICAL CURRENT SOURCE Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC H01M6/20

Abstract RU 2408113 C1

FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: thermal source of current comprises block of electrochemical elements (ECE) in casing with thermal insulation, every of which comprises serially alternating solid layers of anode, cathode, electrolyte, heating elements in rated amount, equipped with heat insulation. Block of electrochemical elements is rigidly fixed on cover of cylindrical casing along its vertical axis, the main heating elements between layers of electrochemical elements are pyroheaters, which are made of material based on mixture of finely dispersed titanium and aluminium powders and/or their salt, which are connected to system of activation of electric igniters for initiation of ECE. Additionally along outer circuit of block of electrochemical elements there is a pyroheating element in the form of bush of material of the main heating elements, heat insulation of block of electrochemical elements is arranged as composite of layers of fine-grained quartz fibre and non-woven fibrous press-material, pyrotechnical bush inside and outside is equipped with specified layers of heat insulation, and on common base, rigidly fixed on casing cover, there are electric igniters mounted for activation and indicator of working condition, at each end of ECE block there is one passive ECE, which is not connected electrically to other ECE.

EFFECT: provides for requirements to weight and dimension limitations, increased resource of operation due to stabilisation of thermal mode, energy intensity, with simultaneous preservation of electrochemical characteristics.
