FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to ophthalmology, and aims at blocking large ruptures, abruptions, group of ruptures of retina. It involves extrascleral packing with silicon spongy implants with oval segment cross-section 4-6 mm high and 7-9 mm wide. Preliminary, the implants are impregnated with an antibiotic solution injected through free ends. An implant surface is coated with an antiseptic gel. The implants are fixed by 4-10 L-sutures.
EFFECT: method provides reliable, safe fixation of the implants combined with prevention of pack contamination and extrusion without intraocular pressure increase.
