FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fibrous layer used in ICE waste gas exhaust system, filter intended for entrapping solid particles in said system, and to method of removing solid particles from exhaust gases using gas-permeable filtration layer. Gas-permeable filtration layer thickness is divided in separate parts 10 that feature variable-magnitude parametre 10 represented by porosity or fraction of certain-type fibers. Gas flow is divided into separate gas flows 24, each being forced through different parts 10 of filtration layer 23.

EFFECT: efficient purification of gases formed in operation of automotive ICE.
