FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: in proposed method involving compression of fresh portion of working body (charge) on operating engine cylinder by moving the piston in upper dead centre (UPC) the temperature and/or pressure of charge is increased owing to fuel combustion, working medium is expanded in operating cylinder so that operation is performed at movement of piston in lower dead center (LDC), working medium is removed (discharged) from operating cylinder so that piston is turned back to initial position; and then working medium is expanded and operation is performed before it is released to environment, working medium is additionally expanded and operation is performed in additional cylinders having pistons, which are installed with possibility of performing back-and-forth movements; at that, cross section area of working medium expanded in additional cylinders (cylinder) is larger than that of working medium in operating cylinder, and temperature of working medium at additional expansion can be increased owing to combustion of additional fuel. Device for generation of mechanical energy in piston engine includes housing with operating cylinders located in it, end covers (heads) of cylinders with inlet (supply) valves of incoming charge (portion) of working medium to cylinder and outlet of reduced pressure medium from cylinder, pistons installed in operating cylinders with possibility of their movement, crankshaft installed in housing and connected to pistons by means of piston-rods, fuel control and supply assemblies, differs by the fact that in the housing there installed are additional cylinders with end covers (heads) having inlet and outlet valves, and with pistons, as well as connected to crankshaft; at that, inlet valves of heads of additional cylinders are connected to outlet valves of heads (head) of operating cylinders (operating cylinder), and total area of pistons of additional cylinders connected (interconnected) with operating cylinder is larger than area of piston of operating cylinder.
EFFECT: increasing efficiency of heat engine owing to decreasing specific fuel consumption.
