FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used as power plant on automobiles, tractors, diesel locomotives and other vehicles. Proposed internal combustion engine with communicating cylinders contains cylinder block with spark plugs, block head, camshaft set into rotation by drive. Cams of camshaft are installed for interaction with valves of communicating cylinders to provide simultaneous opening of intake valves of first and second cylinders relative to TDC of first cylinder and simultaneous closing relative to BDC of second cylinder, and simultaneous closing of exhaust valves of first and second cylinders relative to TDC of second cylinder and simultaneous opening of exhaust valves relative to BDC of first cylinder. Head of cylinder block is provided with intake and exhaust manifolds. Channels connecting two communicating cylinders is made in form of restrictor with adjustable flow area. Crankshaft is provided with paired cranks located at displacement relative of each other through ϕ=3-10 - degrees of crankshaft turning, and angle between pairs of cranks is equal to 360o/n where n is number of crank pairs. Second cylinder is furnished with nozzle.
EFFECT: increase power and improved ecological characteristics, reduced heat stress and roughness of engine at stable operation under all loads and speeds.
