FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention aims at ruling out reverse horizontal displacements of roll pads within the clearance between pads and bed openings in multi-stand cold roll mills. Proposed method comprises strip multipass reduction, control of reduction and tension conditions including measurement and/or calculation on mathematical model of a number of rolling parametres proceeding from the measurement results, provided preset values of the other controlled parametres are maintained in preset process tolerances. It comprises also control over execution of preset criteria condition of rolling optimisation defined with the help of mathematical model. In rolling, additionally determined are difference in tension, total horizontal force acting from strip side to roll in strain focus, total force of support reactions acting on pads from the side of beds support planes etc. Besides, a number of parametres are corrected in compliance with obtained mathematical relationships.

EFFECT: ruling out vibration of last roll mill stand.
