SUBSTANCE: method for cold rolling of strips in multistand mill comprises steps of passing strips through four-high rolling stands in which vertical plane of rolling roll axes is shifted relative to vertical plane of backup rolls axes; lowering interstand tensions along rolling direction. Total interstand back tension exceeds forward-stand tension by range normalized with use of mathematical relation taking into account shifting value of rolling rolls relative to backup rolls, rolling effort, radiuses of backup and rolling rolls, order number of stand, quantity of mill stands.
