FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of purifying mine water from iron and can also be used in purification of underground water. Hydrogen peroxide and calcined soda are simultaneously added to the treated water, where aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution is added in amount which is equimolar relative concentration of iron, and the calcined soda is added in equimolar amount to attain neutral pH level of the medium. The iron contained in the water forms a mixture of compounds which are difficult to dissolve - Fe(OH)3, FeSO4(OH), Fe2 O3·nH2O, which quickly coagulate, precipitate and can be removed even without filtration. The fall in pH of the water is compensated for by adding calcined soda (Na2CO3).
EFFECT: high degree and rate of purifying water from iron, normalisation of pH level and low cost of the process.
