FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to gas cleaning. The apparatus for reducing formation of polychlorinated dibenzodioxines and polychlorinated dibenzofurans, installed in the exhaust line of an internal combustion engine is characterised by that, between spent gases and the catalyst which contains transition metals and/or before at least one catalyst which contains transition metals, there is at least one molecular sieve which prevents contact between hydrocarbons and the catalyst which contains transition metals, where the diametre of free passages through the molecular sieve lies between 3 and 12 Å.
EFFECT: apparatus prevents contact between aromatic hydrocarbons - dioxine precursors and transition metals, thus avoiding formation of polychlorinated dibenzodioxines and polychlorinated dibenzofurans.
