FIELD: power industry.

SUBSTANCE: operating method of four-sided vertical furnace with shielded side, rear walls and non-shielded front wall by supplying reagent gas and air flows along non-cooled front and cooled rear walls through slot bottom burners and by discharging combustion products through roof opening. At that, gas flow rate in flow of reagents, which is supplied along non-cooled front wall, is decreased in comparison with gas flow rate in the flow supplied along cooled rear wall to at thermal load of furnace less than and to at thermal furnace load of and gas is supplied in lighting-up mode along rear wall, where is gas flow supplied along non-cooled front wall and along cooled rear wall respectively, m3/s; is nominal thermal load of furnace, W.

EFFECT: reducing non-uniform temperature of flame in outlet opening of furnace and gas flow rate during lighting-up.
