Invention discloses method of selection and maintenance of pigs population, having lower number of copies of porcine endogenous retrovirus, and using such pigs as source of cells, tissues and/or organs suitable for xenografting. Invention makes it possible to produce pigs especially suitable for use as donors for xenografting.
