FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing polyethylene terephthalate used as packaging material such as films or foil. The method involves discharge of molten mass from the discharge zone of a polycondenser through a discharge unit kept directly linked to a gas chamber. The molten mass form the discharge zone is kept in contact with the gas chamber lying at low pressure and temperature between 270 and 285°C for dwell time less than 5 minutes. The end product is discharged through the discharge unit from the polycondenser through a pipe for the molten mass into a granulator. Further, the granulate undergoes crystallisation while stirring, as well as drying with a drying gas at temperature between 150 and 200°C. Described also is an apparatus for producing granulate from polyethylene terephthalate.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain articles from molten polyethylene terephthalate containing less than 2 parts per million acetaldehyde.
