FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to sterilisation of medical or surgical instruments and devices. An object sterilising unit comprises: closed compartment having a leading-in gas tube (1) and an outlet venting tube, a vacuum pump (11), a microwave generator (3), a sterilisation chamber (7), a nitrogen and hydrogen gas flow source in which amount of hydrogen makes less than 5%, and a heating means (21). Walls of the sterilisation chamber (7) are made of a material of low ability to recombination of nitrogen and hydrogen atoms - glass and/or ceramics. A method of object sterilisation provides the use of said unit with generating vacuum of residual pressure in the order of 10-100 Pa in the closed compartment of the unit; gas flow supplied to said closed compartment of the unit is exposed to the electric field generated by the microwave generator so that to generate gas plasma. Post-discharge flow generated of said gas plasma is supplied to the sterilisation chamber of the sterilising unit for the objects placed therein with the objects to be sterilised heated up to temperature at least 60°C.

EFFECT: invention allows more effective sterilization process and lower risk of oxidation of the objects to be sterilised.
