FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to generation of low-temperature nonequilibrium argon plasma at atmospheric pressure, can be used for sterilization/disinfection of medical instrument and accessories, microorganisms (bacteria, spores, pathogenic microflora) disinfection, in particular, during storage, drying, presowing treatment of agricultural products (seeds, vegetables, fruits, fodder mixtures). Source of non-equilibrium argon plasma based on volumetric glow discharge of atmospheric pressure comprises electrode system of pin cathodes and flat anode with gas flow in discharge gap, high-voltage power supply and gas injection system. Flat anode is located parallel to cathode plate, pin cathodes are retained on cathode plate and installed along entire length of forced gas flow perpendicular to anode and with filling density: one pin cathode per area of 1 cm2 board, at that, radius of ends rounding of end cuts of pin-type cathodes makes 50 mcm, pin-type cathodes are loaded on adjustable in range of 1–9 MOhm ballast resistance, length of discharge gaps between tips of pin cathodes and anode plane of 1–2 cm.

EFFECT: simplification of device with simultaneous increase of its operation stability and creation of volumetric homogeneous plasma for more uniform and effective disinfecting action by low-temperature plasma on vast surfaces.
