FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device comprises casting mould with cooled bottom, metal feed chamber, and device to control the rate of feeding metal into said mould. Mould bottom is made in the form of carrier with perforated and screen sections. In casting metal into mould, perforated section of the bottom is arranged under mould cavity. Cooling medium is fed to bottom surface. To vary cooling medium flow rate, carrier screen section is arranged under the mould. Rate of casting metal and that of cooling medium flow are adjusted to provide uniform curing rate inside casting mould. In compliance with another version, bottom is perforated, hole sizes being sufficient to allow coolant passage to metal cast in the mould and to inhibit metal flow through said holes.
EFFECT: castings with uniform microstructure, reduced internal strains.
