FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: casting method includes supply of the melt metal in the crystallizer with direct cooling of the crystalliser leaving ingot having external skin and liquid core. From the external surface of the nucleus ingot the first cooling liquid is removed such that internal heat of the melted core reheats the solid enclosure. External surface of the nucleus ingot is re-cooled by supply of the second cooling liquid in the second position. The second cooling position is at distance towards direction of ingot growth from the first position. Quantity of second cooling liquid is less then quantity of the first cooling liquid, and is sufficient for hardening of the nucleus ingot, and does not prevent achievement of the ingot core temperature 425°C or higher for time period at least 10 minutes after hardening.
EFFECT: reduced size of particles after ingot hot rolling, and reduced macrosegregation.
