SUBSTANCE: installation 160 comprises an ingot mould with variable dimensions of the inner cavity. The ingot mould consists of a frame 161 having the first side, the second side opposite to the first side, the third side and the fourth side opposite to the third side. The inner surfaces 163 and 164 of the lateral sides confine the ingot mould cavity 162. One or more sides are able of displacement in respect to the other side during casting resulting in the change of cross section of the cast product being formed. A programmable logic controller is used to shift the sides. A cast product can be of tapering shape at one or both ends.

EFFECT: reduction of losses caused by cast product end trimming, elimination of longitudinal cracks.
