FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to riveting and may be used in aircraft engineering. Tested fastener is irradiated by light and reflected light is received. Rivet fit for riveting is identified by comparing power of light reflected from tested fastener with one preset threshold magnitude. The latter corresponds to preset reflection power of tested fastener surface. Device comprising light source, photo detector to receive reflected light and processing unit are used for rivet identification. Processing unit compares power of received light signal with preset threshold magnitude, and generates error signal.

EFFECT: higher reliability of identification.
