FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: for coating moulds and rods there is developed composition of dressing containing components (wt sh.): refractory filler -electro-corundum (100); stabiliser- caolinite clay (3-7) activated with pyro-phosphate of sodium (0.0112÷0.0196); binding - solution of vinyl acetate (9.2÷9.6) in poly-vinyl alcohol (0.57÷0.65); plasticiser -di-butyl-phthalate (1.5÷1.8); solvent - water to humidity of ingredients 20-23 % and density 1.8÷2.1 g/cm3. As refractory filler there is used electro-smelted white corundum with fraction composition of particles equal to 20-40 mcm at amount not less, than 60 %. As stabiliser there is used refractory caolinite clay with colloidity not below 20 % activated with pyro-phosphate of sodium to creation of alkali medium pH=7÷9.
EFFECT: dressing possesses high sedimentation resistance, thixotropy, covering capacity and durable adhesion to surface of mould which considerably decreases rejects of ingot surface.
