FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to antenna engineering and specifically to methods of controlling the shape of the beam shape of a phased antenna array (PAA) by changing only the excitation phase of elements of the PAA. The method is based on iterative element-by-element minimisation of the Q functional, which is a weighted sum of squares of moduli of values of the complex directional pattern in L angular directions (θ1, φ1), which give coordinates of the formed zeroes, wherein the necessary initial values of the complex directional pattern of the PAA in directions of interference are measured and used as initial data. To extend the formed zeroes of the directional pattern of the phased antenna array, additional conditions which enable to obtain the required level of the average directional pattern on power in given angular vicinity of interference directions are imposed on the initial amplitude-phase distribution.

EFFECT: obtaining simultaneously extended and deep zeroes of the directional pattern of the phased antenna array with random distortions of the amplitude-phase distribution.
