FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: composition contains 20-100 wt % of the total mount of film-forming components, film-forming polymer (A), having a backbone acrylic chain which carries at least one terminal group of formula (I): where X denotes ,, (II) or , M denotes Cu, Zn or Te; n is an integer from 1 to 2; R is an organic residue OC(=O)R1 and R1 is a univalent organic residue, and 80-0 wt % of polymer (B), copper-based biocide for water-borne organisms. Essentially, the antifouling coating composition does not contain any zinc biocidal compounds and colophony. The copper-based biocide contains one or more of copper (I) oxide, copper (I) sulphate and copper pyrithione and contains copper metal in amount less than 1 wt % or less than 2 wt % of the total weight of copper oxide. The coating can work in all aqueous media regardless of saltiness of the media.
EFFECT: obtaining an antifouling coating composition with good stability for coating artificial structures immersed into aqueous media regardless of saltiness of the media.
