SUBSTANCE: method of producing powder charges for ammunition comprises selecting multichannel powder element and filling cartridge case with maximum possible amount of multichannel powder elements. Powder element comprises multiple channels arranged across in lengthwise direction. Powder element cross section represents equilateral trapezoid. Two powder elements with their widest parallel lateral surfaces arranged back-to-back form dual powder element. The latter has cross section representing equilateral hexagon.

EFFECT: increased shell initial velocity.
