FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: object of invention is to upgrade micro-hardness and wear resistance of tool or item by increasing strength of adhesion of ion-plasma coating of titanium nitride with surface of items out of hard alloys, mainly, on base of tungsten mono-carbide with cobalt binding. The procedure consists in radiation of working surfaces of items with a beam of charged particles and in successive application of wear resistant coating on them. Radiation is carried on in vacuum with pulse high-current beam of electrons at density of current 11-20 A/cm2, power 15 keV, duration of pulses 150 mcs, and power density 30 J/cm2. Coating out of titanium nitride with thickness of 1-5 mcm is applied on radiated surface.

EFFECT: coating facilitating higher wear resistance of hard alloy items.
