FIELD: hardening of hard-alloy tools. SUBSTANCE: working surface of tool is multiply irradiated with pulses of heavy-current electron beam with pulse length of 2.0-3.0 microseconds, electron energy 10.0-30.0 keV, energy density depending on chemical composition of hard alloy within interval of 0.8-5.0 J/sq.cm and number of pulses 5 to 10. For additional increase of durability of tool it is subjected after irradiation to annealing in vacuum at 900 C in the course of 1.5-2.0 h. Invention makes it possible to increase strength characteristics of surface layer and to raise durability of tool two or three-fold. EFFECT: increased strength characteristics and durability of tool. 1 dwg
