FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: tuning method involves action on the sounding board, where a single-frequency longitudinal sound wave is excited in the sounding board, which is recorded and analysed using a computer program for analysing the frequency spectrum with automatic compilation of tables and diagrams which reflect characteristics of the sounding board. The device for measuring characteristics includes a mechanism acting on the sounding board and a recording mechanism with a microphone. The mechanism acting on the sounding board is a spring, one end of which is fixed and pressed to the sounding board, a magnet fitted on the other end of the spring, and an inductance coil attached to the housing of the device through a damper, and the excited sound waves are recorded by a measuring microphone fitted on a support arm and connected to the computer through a socket. The device can be mounted on the string support.
