METHOD TO MAKE MEASUREMENTS IN ORDER TO IDENTIFY FOREST RAVINE PROFILE Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC A01G23/00 

FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: method is characterised by the fact that across a ravine a test forest strip is selected with trees arranged along. Then along the ravine one or more basic points are selected to install a theodolite in the working position with the possibility to measure distances to all accounted trees on the test strip at both ravine slopes. Distances and a slope angle are measured in the cross section of the ravine between the middles of root collar diametres of adjacent trees along the test strip. To relate the middle of diametres of all accounted trees to a single system of coordinates, its origin is accepted as a point at the edge of the highest slope of the ravine. On completion of measurements under laboratory conditions, depths and distances of root collars middles location are calculated for all accounted trees at a single test strip from the accepted origin of coordinates.

EFFECT: method provides for increased accuracy of a forest ravine profile measurements.
