FIELD: forest industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves providing geodesic fitting of zero point of theodolite relative to middle part of root collar diameter of estimation tree; measuring coordinates of all characteristic points of estimation tree under investigation by theodolite relative to zero point by coordinate grid, with initial point being arranged in middle portion of root collar diameter. Method allows geometric measurement of individual trees for engineering-ecological investigation of territories to be performed and forest estimate surveys by wood weight to be provided in forest management. EFFECT: simplified measurement of estimation tree and its parts by characteristic points on tree trunk and crown. 7 cl, 5 dwg
