SUBSTANCE: invention relates to dendrometry. The method comprises the choice of test band of wood across the ravine or hill with trees located along it. Near each birch on the test band the maximum height of butt is measured from the root collar of the trunk to the soil surface on the loser side along the slope of the ravine or hill and the angle of the local slope across the general slope of the habitat of the tree. For analysis of growth and development of birches growing on a slope, according to a variety of measured parameters of height of the birch butt and the angle of the local slope of their habitat by statistical modelling the relationship between the height of the birch butt and the angle of the local slope of their habitat is revealed.
EFFECT: technology enables to extend the functional capabilities in the water erosion control.
