SUBSTANCE: receiver receives information relating to reception intensity of a fist signal at a first radio frequency. In accordance with the invention, a receiver (MS) makes a decision using defined reception intensity and information relative reception intensity on taking at least one measurement on a second signal transmitted at a second radio frequency.

EFFECT: efficient measurement of the first signal in the receiver until the threshold reception intensity estimate of the second signal is achieved.
