FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and may be used in production of various-section forged pieces from carbon and alloyed steels at hydraulic presses. Billet is deformed in passes with feed after each single squeezing and flat-and-back stripping. In forging, billet heat losses in emission into ambient air, transfer to hammers and manipulator jaws, are compensated by varying the volume of metal deformed in strain point during squeezing by four hammers and/or rate of squeezing. Note here that in forging metal temperature at different points on billet surface is continuously measured. Measured temperature is used to vary metal volume at strain pint and/or billet squeezing rate.
EFFECT: uniform metal temperature during different passes, hence, higher quality of forging.
