FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: ends of measured pipes are heated to Ac3+(230÷360)°C. The pipe is fixed simultaneously in two places: in a matrix and at distance of 2300±50 mm from an externally upset end of the pipe by means of a hydraulic clamp. Each end of the pipe is external upset per one run of a puncheon with degree of deformation 57.2 %. Further, the pipe is cooled and heated for tempering to 300÷400°C at rate of heating 120÷180°C/s by feeding electric current through whole volume of the pipe, conditioned for 1-3 min and cooled.
EFFECT: external upsetting ends of pipe of various thickness, including repair of pipes upon operation; fabrication of pipes with fine grain homogenous structure along length and section; high strength quality.
