FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: average linear density of a compact set of fibres is controlled using standard fibre samples of equal length in multiples of the increasing mass, as well as using measurements of acoustic and capacitance signals. The obtained values of the acoustic signal and impedance of the capacitor at the given frequency, curves of the acoustic signal versus the number of fibres in the sounding zone and capacitor impedance at the given frequency versus total mass of the fibres in the zone of the capacitor plates are plotted. The average linear density of the compact set of fibres is controlled using the obtained curves.
EFFECT: fast and accurate control of average linear density of a compact set of fibres in a continuous manufacturing chain.
