SUBSTANCE: sound coder (109) has a structure of hierarchical coding and generates a data flow, containing one or more sound channels, and also parametric data of sound coding. The coder (109) comprises a processor of coding structure (305), which inserts data of the decoder treelike structure into the data flow. The decoder treelike structure data contains at least one data value, which indicates characteristic of channel division for the sound channel at the hierarchical layer of the hierarchical decoder structure, and may specifically define treelike structures of the decoder, which will be used by the decoder. The decoder (115) comprises a receiver (401), which receives the data flow, and the processor of the decoder structure (405) to generate the hierarchical decoder structure in response to the decoder treelike structure data. The decoding processor (403) then generates output sound channels from the data flow, using the structure of the hierarchical decoder.
EFFECT: provision of efficient coding of the hierarchical decoder structure information in data of the decoder treelike structure.
