SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of agriculture and may be used to cultivate Hindu lotus as a crop. The method to cultivate Hindu lotus in natural and manmade water reservoirs is characterised with preparation of a planting stock in the form of seeds, preparation of a water reservoir and planting of the prepared seeds into the water reservoir. The planting stock preparation consists in picking ripe and healthy seeds, peel of which is sawn, afterwards seeds are rolled into a ball of moist clay for ensure drowning and dried. The water reservoir is prepared in autumn period, choosing a slow flow sleeve or a shallow channel, or a manmade slow flow water reservoir is prepared with the depth of at least 10 cm and area of at least 1 sq.m. per single plant, at the same time seeds are planted into the water reservoir in October-November, before it freezes. The prepared seeds are sowed into the water-reservoir, 1-2 pieces at a time per 1 sq.m. with provision of the water reservoir area water provision of at least 5-10 cm of water above the bottom surface until the end of the blooming time, at the same time the water temperature should make 25-30°C during the vegetation period.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to cultivate Hindu lotus without additional measures to ensure conditions for planting stock storage, which is not related to high costs.
