FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of building materials based on portland cement and can be used in preparing mortar and concrete mixtures and dry construction mixtures, having hydrophobic effect. Method of producing hydrophobic cement with improved strength characteristics involves mixing portland cement with addition of dispersed peat in amount of not more than 10% in terms of absolutely dry substances and heating. The dispersed peat additive to the portland cement used is thermally modified peat. Before mixing, the peat is directly heated at temperature 400-800°C, after which the obtained peat at the corresponding temperature is pulverised and then mixed with portland cement in amount of not less than 4% in terms of absolutely dry substance. The additive can be dispersed thermally modified lowland or highland peat.
EFFECT: improved strength characteristics.
