FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of producing granulated iron metal. The granulated iron metal is produced by ball milling a mixture of materials containing iron oxide and a carbonaceous reducing agent, loading and heating the ball milled mixture of materials in a movable hearth reduction furnace in order to reduce iron oxide in the mixture of materials with the carbonaceous reducing agent to obtain hot granulated iron metal. The hot granulated iron metal is cooled while changing its relative position and simultaneously forming an oxide coating on its surface by bringing moisture into contact with almost the entire surface of the hot granulated iron metal in an atmosphere of inert gas.

EFFECT: obtaining granulated iron metal, having high resistance to formation of red rust.
