FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of metal by direct reduction in a furnace with a movable bottom and can be used to obtain an alloy of iron and carbon by recovery of briquettes from iron-ore material with a carbon reducing agent. The method involves loading onto the furnace bottom of a mixture containing the carbon reducing agent, iron oxides and a fluorine-containing cohesion accelerator, reduction and fusion of the mixture so that metallic iron granules are obtained. As a fluorine-containing cohesion accelerator there used are fluorine-containing wastes and/or secondary fluorine-containing products of aluminium production in the quantity providing content of fluorine in the initial mixture of 0.1-0.5 wt %. The above mixture is loaded onto the furnace bottom in the form of briquettes.
EFFECT: reduction of temperature and duration of reduction of iron, improvement of removal of iron to a product; improvement of separation of the reduced metal and slag and reduction of metal contamination with reaction by-products.
