FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves oxidation of cyclohexane with hypobromous acid HOBr, generated in situ from carbon tetrabromide (CBr4) and water (H2O) in the presence of a molybdenum-containing catalyst Mo(CO)6 at temperature 125-160°C for 4-6 hours, in molar ratio [catalyst] : [cyclohexane] : [CBr4] : [H2O]=1-3:100:100:1500-2000.
EFFECT: method enables to obtain and end product with high output while using available and cheap raw material.
