SUBSTANCE: territory on which the number of people is to be determined is formed. The data transmission interface of personal devices is selected as the radiating mark. Transmission is carried out by sending a request over a data exchange protocol. The reply is read by a transceiver in form of a device with radio access working with the same protocol as the wireless data transmission interface. The reply is stored, where the reply includes a unique identifier of the wireless data transmission interface and fields which characterise the personal device. The number of people Q is determined using the formula: Q=U*K, where U is the number of unique identifiers of the wireless data transmission interfaces, K is a predetermined coefficient for the monitored region or territory, which determines the number of people in the coverage area of the transceiver on one connected wireless interface of the personal device.
EFFECT: calculation of the number of people, determination of the composition of groups of people and direction of movement at any time instant on given territory using personal devices.
