FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: tests are conducted using model aircraft consisting of an airframe model and an engine nacelle model mounted on an airstrip screen imitator separated from each other by a gap. The airstrip screen imitator is turned by a given gliding angle and aerodynamic characteristics are measured first without imitation of reverse jets, and then with imitation of reverse jets of the propulsion unit, after which the effect of reverse jets of the propulsion unit on aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft is assessed. Testing in accordance with the invention is conducted on a stand which comprises an airstrip screen imitator which can turn by a given gliding angle, and model aircraft consisting of an airframe model and an engine nacelle model. The airframe model and the engine nacelle model are placed on the airstrip screen imitator with a small gap relative the airframe. The engine nacelle models are fitted with a through channel, a flow-reversing chamber and imitators of reversing devices. The stand also has a source of gas for feeding into the flow-reversing chamber and a system for rarefaction of air from the said through channels.

EFFECT: possibility of evaluating force and moment effect on reverse jets of a propulsion unit on aircraft when moving at different gliding angles on an airstrip.
