FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly, to production of steel piles for hot rolling of bimetal stainless steel sheets welded under pressure. Laminar billet, like stainless steel strip or sheet, consists of main carbon steel layer, clad stainless steel layer and intermediate layer of metal carbide powder applied on processed surface of main or clad layer. Proposed method comprises assembling said pile for jointing of layers at pressure, heating said pile to jointing temperature, and deforming said pile at jointing temperature to produce laminar billet. Note here that metal carbide powder is applied, its particles feature fragmentation shape and size varying from 2 mcm to 40 mcm, as well as fusion temperature-to-hot deformation maximum temperature ratio exceeding 2. Said pile is heated to 950-1250°C for hot deformation to be carried out at plastic deformation degree of 0.2-0.6, and, then, laminar billet if rolled to strip or sheet.
EFFECT: higher shear strength of produced joint.
