FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely, to production of laminar billets from stainless steels. Laminar billet, like stainless steel strip or sheet, consists of main carbon steel or low-carbon steel layer, at least one clad stainless steel layer and intermediate layer. Proposed method comprises preparing contact surfaces of main and clad layers, applying powder material layer on one of intermediate layer surfaces, assembling said pile for hot rolling, heating said pile to hot rolling temperature of 950-1250°C, and rolling said pile at jointing temperature to produce laminar sheet or strip. Note here that metal carbide powder is applied, its particles feature fragmentation shape and size varying from 2 mcm to 40 mcm to produce powder material of composition below in wt %: powder of nickel-silicon alloy - 55÷65 with silicon content of 30 to 50, nickel powder - 20÷25, metal carbide powder - 10÷25. Hot deformation is carried out at plastic deformation degree of 0.12-0.6.
EFFECT: higher shear strength of produced joint.
