FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to starch production and is meant for separating a starch suspension from pulp of potato or cereals. The apparatus for separating suspensions, primarily starch-containing suspensions, has a housing with filtrate and residue receivers, a conical filtering rotor fitted with apparatus for controlling movement of residue on the filter surface, having a row of annular discs lying on the length of the rotor with adjustable gaps, and apparatus for feeding the suspension into the rotor. Each annular disc has teeth which form a comb for deforming the residue during its movement on the filter surface, and each tooth is in form of a thin-wall element which forms a helical surface which enables residue to slide on it.
EFFECT: high degree of separation of suspensions and higher quality of fractions.
