FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of activating the surface of polymer material, particularly polymer films and articles made from heat sealable polyolefins meant for packing dairy and food products with long shelf life. The method involves pretreatment of the polymer material with a modifying betulin additive, after which the surface of the polymer material is exposed to a continuous spectrum of pulsed radiation containing visible, ultraviolet and infrared radiation with exposure time of 700 mcs. The surface dose of the continuous spectrum is equal to 605-850 mJ/cm2.
EFFECT: heat sealable polyolefin layer acquires antimicrobial properties which are retained on all production steps.
